Abstract:
An inverter circuit (100) formed by connecting one or more single-phase inverters in series is connected in series to an AC power supply (1). At the next stage to the inverter circuit (100), a converter circuit (300) formed by semiconductor switching elements (301a to 304a) is connected, and a smoothing capacitor (3) is connected to the converter circuit (300). A control circuit (10) controls the converter circuit (300) by providing, in one cycle, a short-circuit period during which the smoothing capacitor (3) is bypassed and controls the inverter circuit (100) so that the power factor of the AC power supply (1) is improved, by using a current command so that the voltage of the smoothing capacitor (3) becomes a target voltage. A DC voltage command value of the inverter circuit (100) is then changed according to the target voltage of the smoothing capacitor (3), thereby controlling the short-circuit period so that the DC voltage follows the command value and reducing the DC voltage of the inverter circuit (100).
