Abstract:
When increasing or decreasing the speed of an AC motor driven by a power conversion device, in order to find the optimal length of time over which to decrease the speed of said motor, an operator ends up performing speed-increasing and speed-decreasing operations a dozen or so times while taking into consideration motor characteristics and the moment of inertia of the motor, including a load. Methods such as this have the problems that the burden on the operator is high and it takes a long time to start up the system. As such, this power conversion device, which uses variable-voltage variable-frequency AC power to drive an AC motor, is provided with the following: a rectifier that rectifies an AC voltage, converting same to a DC voltage; an intermediate DC circuit that has a smoothing capacitor that smooths the DC voltage outputted by the rectifier; an inverter comprising a semiconductor switching element; a driver circuit that drives said semiconductor switching element; a current detection circuit that detects the current outputted by the inverter; and a control circuit that determines the phase difference, power-factor angle, or power factor between the output voltage of the power conversion device and the current detected by the current detection circuit, and on the basis of said phase difference, power-factor angle, or power factor, controls the length of time over which to increase or decrease the speed of the AC motor.
