Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem that when the operation of a power conversion device has stopped due to the occurrence of a short-circuit accident, the user cannot identify the place where the short-circuit has occurred, that is, whether the short-circuit accident has occurred on a cable or inside a motor. A power conversion device is equipped with a plurality of switching elements and drives a motor by the on/off control of the switching elements, said motor being connected by cables. The power conversion device is provided with: a reverse converter circuit constituted by a plurality of switching elements of upper arms and a plurality of switching elements of lower arms, both of which are used for controlling the current of the motor; and a determination unit for determining a short-circuited site. When investigating inter-phase short-circuited sites that have occurred at the motor and the cables, the determination unit simultaneously turns on the switching elements of one upper arm and one lower arm of the different phases to generate short-circuit current and determines a short-circuited site on the basis of the current increasing speed when short-circuited and the current decreasing speed after being short-circuited.
