Abstract:
Provided is a power converter for the propulsion of an electric car. The power converter is favorable for the use wherein the power regeneration from an inverter unit (30) to a power storage element (51) and the power supply from the power storage element (51) to the inverter unit (30) are performed a lot. The power converter comprises a converter unit (10) to which a DC voltage is inputted and which converts the DC voltage into a direct current of a predetermined value and outputs the direct current, the inverter unit (30) which is connected to the output side of the converter unit (10) and drives an electric motor (40), and a power storage unit (50) connected to the output side of the converter unit (10). A converter control unit (14) included in the converter unit (10) generates a current command of the converter unit (10) and controls a charging/discharging current of the power storage unit (50) on the basis of the current command.
