Abstract:
A power failure backup power supply device has a charging/discharging control unit 11. When a commercial power supply 1 is restored from a power failure, the charging/discharging control unit 11 determines a discharge capacity discharged by a battery 12 during the power failure on the basis of a discharge current value measured by a current measurement unit 14 and a discharge time measured by a timer unit 15a, and performs, on the basis of the discharge capacity and using a charging unit 13, first charging of the battery 12 with a first charging current value and, after the first charging, second charging of the battery 12 with a second charging current value smaller than the first charging current value. The charging/discharging control unit 11 interrupts charging of the battery 12 for a certain time after the first charging or during the second charging; determines, after the interruption, a lack of capacity of the battery 12 on the basis of a voltage of the battery 12 measured by a voltage measurement unit 16; and performs, on the basis of the lack of capacity and using the charging unit 13, third charging of the battery 12 with a third charging current value larger than the second charging current value.
