Title:
POWER GRID FOR AN AIRCRAFT, AND METHOD FOR OPERATING THE POWER GRID
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/023678
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a power grid for an aircraft, and to a method for operating the power grid. The invention is particularly useful for commercial jumbo jets which comprise more and more onboard electrical apparatuses. The grid includes: an alternating current bus (10); a direct current bus (12); a rectifier (11) providing DC voltage to the direct current bus (12) from the alternating current bus; a plurality of two-way converters (O3 to O7) comprising two connection points, each two-way converter (O3 to O7) being connected, at the first connection point thereof, to the direct current bus (12), and being capable of being connected, at the second connection point thereof, to a load (13 to 17) of the aircraft so as to charge same, the grid being capable of being connected to at least two generators (G1, G2), each of which is capable of supplying the AC voltage to the alternating current bus via the rectifier (11). According to the invention, the grid also includes at least one link for connecting of at least one of the generators (G1, G2) to the second connection point of at least one of the two-way converters (O3 to O7). The grid enables a generator to be changed without cutting off power and without any particular synchronization of the generators (G1, G2).
