Abstract:
A power source device (1) for an electric discharge machine is provided with: a direct current power source (6) connected in parallel to an electrode gap (4); multiple mutually parallel switching elements (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d) disposed between the electrode gap (4) and the direct current power source (6); an electric current value-acquiring part (10a) for acquiring the value of the electric current; and an ON-OFF control part (10b) for setting the period for switching the multiple switching elements (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d) from OFF to ON to the same period in the time from when the electric current value reaches a pre-determined value until falling begins, switching from OFF to ON in a pre-determined sequence at the timing for each 90° phase, which is 360° divided by the number of the multiple switching elements (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d), setting the respective ON periods for the switching elements on the basis of the difference between the electric current value and a pre-determined value, and performing ON-OFF control of the multiple switching elements (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d) on the basis of the period, timing, and ON period.
