Title:
POWER SUPPLY APPARATUS FOR WIRE-CUT ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1985/001685
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A power supply apparatus for wire-cut electric discharge machining charges a capacitor (4) from a DC power source (2) through a switching element (1) and discharges the electric charge stored in the capacitor (4) to the gap between a work (6) and a wire electrode (7) through a switching element (5). The power supply apparatus supplies a single-polarity discharge current having a small pulse width to the gap between the wire electrode (7) and the work (6) and allows the capacitor (4) to be efficiently recharged. For this purpose, a series circuit of an impedance element (50, 80) other than capacitance and a diode (51) is connected in parallel to the capacitor (4), the diode (51) being connected in such a manner that its polarity is opposite to that of the voltage applied for the purpose of recharging the capacitor (4).
