Disclosed is a power supply device for a vehicle, wherein fuel is saved by prolonging an idling stop period even if a main power supply is deteriorated. The power supply device is configured to be used in the vehicle having an engine and a load mounted therein, and the power supply device has a power generator, a the main power supply, a starter, a first switch, a power storage unit, a second switch, and a control unit. In the case where the main power supply is deteriorated, the control unit supplies the load with power from the main power supply, while the vehicle is in the idling stop period, and the control unit turns off the first switch and turns on the second switch at the time of restarting the engine, and controls the starter to be driven with power supplied from the main power supply and regenerative electric power supplied from the power storage unit.
