A PLG-ECU (82) for use in an external charging is provided independently of an HV-ECU (80) for use in a vehicle driving and is adapted to control the on/off states of external charging relays (RL1, RL2).  A subsidiary DC/DC converter (115), which is used to convert an output voltage of a charger (110) to an auxiliary machinery system voltage (Vs) during the external charging, is also provided independently of a main DC/DC converter (60) of a large capacity that is used during the vehicle driving.  During the external charging, the PLG-ECU (82) is used to execute the external charging, while the subsidiary DC/DC converter (115) is used to generate the auxiliary machinery system voltage (Vs), without activating a vehicle driving system.  Moreover, the external charging can be executed with system main relays (SMR1, SMR2) kept off, so that no high voltage (or no main battery output voltage) is applied to equipment in the following stages.  As a result, a main battery (10) can be externally charged without affecting the endurances or lives of the components of the vehicle driving system.
