This power tool is provided with: a motor that serves as a drive source; a speed reduction mechanism unit that reduces the speed of and transmits the rotative power of the motor; and a speed reduction ratio switching means that switches the speed reduction ratio of the speed reduction mechanism unit. The speed reduction mechanism unit is formed from a switching member that is capable of freely sliding in an axial direction and a gear member that is capable of engaging with the switching member. The speed reduction ratio switching means has: a speed change actuator that slides the switching member; a drive adjustment unit that adjusts the drive of the speed change actuator; a switch control unit that changes the rotative power of the motor when switching the speed reduction ratio; and an actuator control unit that controls the speed change actuator. The actuator control unit controls the drive adjustment unit so as to keep the sliding amount of the switching member constant over a given period.
