Provided is a power transmission apparatus and a power transmission/reception system provided with the power transmission apparatus, wherein interference by nearby power transmission apparatuses is inhibited by the power transmission apparatus (10), and the power transmission apparatus (10) is provided with a power transmission unit (11) that transmits power by changing the electric field and/or the magnetic field. The power transmission unit (11) changes the electric field and/or the magnetic field with a method different from other nearby power transmission units. For example, the frequency with which the power transmission unit (11) changes the magnetic field is made to be different from the frequency with which the other nearby power transmission apparatuses (10) change the magnetic field, or the timing at which the power transmission unit (11) changes the magnetic field is made to be different from the timing at which the other nearby power transmission apparatuses (10) change the magnetic field.
