Abstract:
A propeller shaft (1) that is a power transmission shaft has: a shaft member (2) that comprises an iron-based metal and is formed as a cylindrical body; and a balance weight (3) that is welded to the outer circumferential surface of the shaft member (2) and comprises an iron-based metal. In addition, in the propeller shaft (1), at least a part of the balance weight (3) is coated with a sacrificial metal coat (4) that comprises a sacrificial anticorrosion material that contains a metal having a greater ionization tendency than a metal that constitutes the shaft member (2). Accordingly, it is possible to inhibit local progress of corrosion in the surrounding area of the balance weight (3) and improve durability of the propeller shaft (1).
