Abstract:
Provided is a power transmission system for a vehicle capable of attaining such a
cross ratio while suppressing the entire upsizing that the changing range of a
gear ratio at a stepped shifting time is wide and that the gear ratios are close to
each other. The power transmission system (10) comprises a power distribution mechanism
(16) for distributing the output of an engine (8) to a first electric motor (M1)
and a transmission member (18), and a second electric motor (M2) and an automatic
transmission (20) disposed between the transmission member (18) and a drive
wheel (38), so that the power distribution mechanism (16) is selectively switched
into a differential state, in which it can act as an electric continuous transmission,
and a fixed gear ratio state, in which it can act as a two-stepped transmission.
In case the power transmission system is actuated as a stepped type automatic
transmission, the number of intermediate gear ratios can be increased by switching
the fixed gear ratios of the power distribution mechanism, thereby to attain
the cross ratio, at which the gear ratios change widely and are close to each other.
