Title:
POWER TRANSMISSION OF TURBOCOMPOUND ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1990/014509
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A power transmission of a turbocompound engine which recovers exhaust heat energy as the power source using an exhaust heat recovery turbine (2) rotated by an exhaust gas discharged from an engine (1) and transmits it to a crank shaft (1a) through a reduction means, wherein said reduction means consists of a speed-responsive type stepless belt reduction gear (10) whose gear change ratio varies automatically in accordance with the revolution speed of the engine (1). Accordingly, the exhaust heat recovery turbine can be kept within a high efficiency revolution range over a broad revolution range of the engine and the recovery efficiency of an exhaust heat engine can be improved. Means (34, 34a, 34b) and (44) for sensing cut-off and slip-off of the belt are disposed so as to prevent a rise in revolution of the turbine (2) and breakage of the belts by sensing abnormality of the belts.
