Title:
POWERED DENTAL EXTRACTION FORCEPS COMPRISING A BONE DENSITY SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/059999
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A powered or hydraulic physics extraction device used to extract the tooth from its socket without application of excessive force s by the application of calculated and measured forces within the maximum range of bone and periodontal ligament creep. This force is applied on the lingual surface of the tooth using the buccal or labial plates of bone as a fulcrum with no need to apply additional force. The applied force, pressure, strength, density and hardness of bone in the extraction area are measured by measuring sensors included in the bumper of the forceps device or as a separate unit.

1 ) The idea of converting the physic s forceps to automated or hydraulic physic s extraction device used manually, electrically or using air pre ssure . This device is controlled by the denti st and make s the extraction procedures using physic s and le vering rules . This device may contain sensors to measure the strength and density of bone in the extraction area. The who le device is used to decrease the effort of the dentist during extraction procedures to the minimum .

2 ) Creating device or sens ors to measure bone density, strength, and hardne ss in any area in the maxilla or mandible without need for x-rays, this device may be inc luded in the physic s extraction device or as a separate unit, thi s sensor or device work with one of two ways :

* In case o f merging with the extraction forceps device : by the application of ultrasound waves from the bumper unit, this waves will hit and reflect against lingual plate to received again on a buccal sensor, which will measure the speed and time consumed in the process comparing them with an ideal pre- entered data to give data about the type o f bone in this area.

* As a separate unit in the shape of needle act by punching the muco sa to reach the perio steum buccally, labially, lingually, palatally, or occlusally on the alveolar crest of bone resting on the periostium to detect bone information.

3) Creating a device to measure the force or the pressure applied on bone around the tooth in extraction area during extraction, this device includes sensor for measuring, which may be included in the extraction forceps or as a separate unit and it gives the dentist readings outside the patient's mouth to guide him to increase or decrease the applied forces.

Description:
POWERED DENTAL EXTRACTION FORCEPS COMPRISING A BONE DENSITY SENSOR

* Tech n ical Field :

A powered or hydraulic autoc lavable or with rechangab le autoclavable tips extraction forceps used to eliminate the tooth from its so cket without application o f exce s sive force by the app lication of c alculated and measured forces within the maximum range of bone and periodontal ligament creep .

This force is applied on the lingual surface o f the tooth using the buccal or labial plates of bone as a fulcrum with no need to apply additional forces .

The strength, density and hardness of bone in the extraction area are measured by measuring sensors included in the bumper of the forceps device or as a separate unit.

Thi s device will offer great benefits in dental field. These include decreasing the effort in extraction procedure s, decrease the degree of trauma, eliminate human variations, aiding implants and maxillofacial researche s, and in calculating the strength, density, and hardne ss of bone in the extraction area the thing which will be o f great benefit in extraction and implant procedures and after tumor excision surgerie s .

* Backgro und Art :

The background art i s assimilated in a tool called physics forceps used manually to extract the to oth from its socket by appling a rotational force on the lingual surface o f the tooth by l one arm using the buccal or labial plates of bone as a fulcrum by the other arm.

* Disclosure of The Invention:

It is an autoclavable powered or hydraulic physical extraction forceps used in teeth extraction procedures using physical theories instead of the conventional method.

Bone is strongest to force in compression, 30% weaker to tension, and 65% weaker to shear forces. When a rotating force is applied from the extraction physics forceps device on a tooth, the stress on the tooth and the periodontal complex is a shear component of force. The force applied to the gums and bone by the bumper of the extraction physics forceps device is over a greater surface area and is a compressive force, thus bracing the buccal bone. This permits the lingual plate to expand more and protects the facial plate from fracture.

This device is controlled by the dentist and used by putting on of the device arm tip on the lingual surface of the tooth which will be extracted and the other tip ( the bumper ) on the buccal or labial plate of bone which will used as a fulcrum for the tooth which is going to be extracted using class 1 lever, bone creep, and shear components of force, and with a slight and calculated rotational movement around the fulcrum area the tooth is removed from its socket after tearing and creeping of the periodontal ligaments and expansion and creeping of the surrounding bone over time. The rotational force of the device is adj usted according to the qual ity and strength of the surrounding bone, thi s quality and strength is determined by a sensor included in the bumper of the device or supplied as a separate unit.

The devic e can determine the strength and density of bone by one of two ways :

1 ) In case of merging with the extraction device : by the application o f ultrasound waves from the bumper thi s wave s will hit and re flect against lingual plate to be received again on the buccal sensor, which will measure the speed and time consumed in the proce s s comparing them with an ideal pre- entered data to give data about the type of bone in this area.

2) As a separate unit in the shape o f needle act by punching the muco sa resting on the perio stium to detect bone information. The bone data could be recorded buccally, labially, lingually, palatally, or occlusally re sting on the alveolar crest
