Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a powertrain system provided with a novel fuel reforming device with which it is possible to adjust the operating state of an internal combustion engine and improve fuel consumption in correspondence with the components of auxiliary fuel synthesized from hydrogen and carbon dioxide discharged from the internal combustion engine. Auxiliary fuel having methane as a main component is synthesized using a methane conversion catalyst 24 from hydrogen and carbon dioxide that is separated from an exhaust gas; the auxiliary fuel is mixed with main fuel and burned in an internal combustion engine 20; and either an adjustment is made to a combustion initiation period which depends on a spark plug 39 of the internal combustion engine in correspondence with the temperature of the methane conversion catalyst 24, or a combustion time period is adjusted by a tumble-generating valve 43. This allows the operation of the internal combustion engine to be appropriately controlled in correspondence with the components of the synthesized auxiliary fuel, and makes it possible to improve fuel consumption by improving heat efficiency.
