Abstract:
Disclosed is a PPAR&agr -selective activating compound which is pharmaceutically useful. Specifically disclosed is a benzoic acid derivative represented by the general formula (1) below, or a salt thereof. [In the formula, A represents an oxygen atom, nitrogen atom or sulfur atom; R represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, alkenyl group, alkynyl group, cycloalkyl group, cycloalkyl-alkyl group, aryl group, aryl-alkyl group, aryl-oxy-alkyl group, pyridyl-alkyl group, alkoxycarbonyl-alkyl group or carboxy-alkyl group; X represents an oxygen atom, NH group or S(O)n group (wherein n represents an integer of 0, 1 or 2); and m represents an integer of 2-8.] Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical product containing such a benzoic acid derivative or a salt thereof as an active constituent.
