Abstract:
A premoistened antibacterial wipe comprising:(i) nonwoven substrate; and (ii) lotion, the lotion comprising:(a) from about 0.0001% to about 2.0% by weight of lotion of a first quaternary nitrogen compound of the formula: wherein R<1> and R<2> are each independently selected from C1 to C3 alkyl; R<3> and R<4> are each independently linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted, cyclic or acyclic, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radicals having from about 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, provided that at least one of R<3> and R<4> contains an aromatic moiety; and X is selected from the group consisting of halogen, sulfate, alkylsulfate, and mixtures thereof; (b) from about 0.0001% to about 5.0% by weight of lotion of a second quaternary nitrogen compound of the formula: wherein R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are each independently selected from C1 to C3 alkyl; R<5> is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted, cyclic or acyclic, aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having from about 1 to about 30 carbon atoms; and X is selected from the group consisting of halogen, sulfate, alkylsulfate, and mixtures thereof; and (c) an aqueous carrier; wherein the wipe substantially evenly reduces the population of both gram positive and gram negative bacteria on a surface to which the wipe has been applied. Also provided are articles comprising the wipes and containers and methods of preparing and using the wipes.
