Abstract:
A precious-metal adsorbent is chemically modified by a functional group including an N atom and/or an S atom, and is formed from one of an alga, a residue of the alga, a substance obtained by treating the alga with a strong acid, and a substance obtained by treating the residue of the alga with a strong acid. Using the present precious-metal adsorbent makes it possible to separate a specific type of precious metal; e.g., platinum or palladium, from other precious metals or base metals, and recover the precious metal.
