Abstract:
This precipitation hardening-type soft-magnetic ferritic stainless steel has a composition containing, in mass%, 0.1% or less of C (not including 0%), 0.01-2.5% of Si, 0.5% or less of Mn (not including 0%), 0.1% or less of S (not including 0%), 12.0-19.0% of Cr, 1.0-4.0% of Ni, 0.5-3.0% of Al, and 0.05-0.5% of Ti and/or not less than 0.05 but less than 0.3% of Zr, and also containing 0.02-0.5% of Bi, the remaining portion being unavoidable impurities and Fe. The structure obtained by subjecting the composition to a solution treatment of heating for 2 hours at 1050°C and then rapidly quenching the same in nitrogen gas, and thereafter to an aging treatment for 3 hours at 550°C, is a ferrite phase, and has a hardness of 300 Hv or more after the aging treatment. The precipitation hardening-type soft-magnetic ferritic stainless steel has excellent soft magnetic properties, aging hardness, and corrosion resistance, and has excellent machinability.
