Abstract:
A preform comprising at least a layer of polyester resin and having a neck ring at a mouth part formed by compression molding, characterized in that the polyester layer at its bottom center or under the neck ring has a temperature difference (&Dgr Tc), represented by the following formula, of ≤ 15&ring C, &Dgr Tc = Tc2-Tc1 wherein Tc1 is a heating crystallization peak temperature determined by measuring a polyester layer cut out from the preform by means of differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and Tc2 a heating crystallization peak temperature determined by, after the determination of Tc1, conducting melting and quenching and thereafter measuring. Consequently, there can be obtained a preform of reduced molding strain excelling in the dimensional stability at crystallization of the mouth part. The molded item obtained by stretch blow molding of this preform is free from any deviation of wall thickness and any occurrence of flaw or wrinkle and excels in appearance characteristics.
