Abstract:
The equipment reliability of a raw material retaining gate of a preheater is improved, the equipment cost is reduced, the effect of preheating the raw material by use of the waste gas is enhanced, and the melting electric power energy is reduced without deteriorating the working environment. A shaft having a raw material feed inlet and a waste gas outlet at the top is provided, and a raw material retaining gate at the bottom is provided close to an arc furnace. A clearance between the lower end of the shaft and the retaining gate is provided. An outer cylinder connected to an exhaust duct of the arc furnace is provided around the clearance. The arc furnace body or the shaft is horizontally movable.
