A bumperreinforce used to promote automobile safety by improving automobile body rigidity or by absorbing collision-produced energy, the bumper reinforce being light in weight and high in safety and having a substantially B-shaped cross section. A method of producing such a bumperreinforce, characterized by comprising the steps of pressing a high tensile strength steel sheet to form a substantially U-shaped cross-section, pressing it to form a hat shape in the middle of the cross section, pressing it to form rising portions at the opposite ends of the cross section, pressing it to form oblique, substantially angle-shaped rising portions on the opposite sides of the cross section, pressing it from the opposite sides of the cross section, welding the joint, and bending it to form a longitudinal camber as seen in a plan view.
