Abstract:
This press-molding method for a vehicle exterior panel is a method for press-molding a raw metal plate 51 into a vehicle exterior panel including a character line 63 and panel surface sections 65a, 65b by using a punch 3, a die 5, and a blank holder 7. The press-molding method includes: a step for providing an elastic body 9 protruding to the punch 3 side on a die-side molding surface section 5b for molding the panel surface section 65a, and bringing the elastic body 9 into contact with the raw metal plate 51 prior to the die 5 making contact with the metal plate; and a step for press-molding while press-crushing the elastic body 9 to press the raw metal plate 51. The elastic body 9 is made to protrude from the die-side molding surface section 5b such that a frictional force between the press-crushed elastic body 9 and the raw metal plate 51 is at or above an absolute value of a difference in tension generated on both sides of a site 53 that corresponds to the character line 63.
