Abstract:
Disclosed is a presser member for a sewing machine such as a vertical feed sewing machine or a general feed sewing machine. In a machine foot (40) or an outer retainer (16, 116) for use in a sewing machine, a level difference presser part (41H, 116H) consisting of vertical steps is formed at the end on the back side for introducing a sewn material (6), whereby the machine foot (40) or the outer retainer (16, 116) can easily rides on a stitch material (9) in which steps (T) are formed and sewing can be continued while riding over the steps (T) of the stitch material (9) stepwise. Consequently, continuous sewing can be carried out without requiring any special re-arrangement in both cases of sewing the substantially flat sewn material (6) and stitching a stitch material (9) in which the steps (T) are formed.
