Abstract:
Provided is a pressing device to be used in a toroidal continuously variable transmission and capable of reducing the hysteresis produced between the torque and the pressing force. An intermediate sliding member 27 is provided in one or more locations among: the section between the end surface located on the outside in the radial direction of the holder 13 and constituting part of the roller 14 positioned farthest to the outside in the radial direction of the holder 13, and the inside surface located on the outside in the radial direction of the holder 13 and constituting part of a pocket 25; and the section between the end surface located on the outside in the radial direction of the holder 13 and constituting part of one roller 14 among the rollers 14 which are adjacent in the radial direction of the holder 13, and the end surface located on the inside in the radial direction of the holder 13 and constituting part of another roller 14. As a result, it is possible to decrease the contact surface area of a sliding contact section 32 in comparison to when the intermediate sliding member 27 is not provided.
