Abstract:
This pressure controlling method uses a casting apparatus 1 provided with a holding furnace 3 having a reserve of a molten metal 2, a metal mold 5 forming a cavity 4, an intra-furnace pressure application means 6 for applying pressure inside the holding furnace 3, and a cavity pressure reduction means 7 for reducing pressure inside the cavity 4. Casting is performed while applying pressure to and loading the cavity 4 with the molten metal 2 by the intra-furnace pressure application means 6, and reducing pressure inside the cavity 4 by the cavity pressure reduction means 7. At that moment, casting is performed by the pressure controlling method such that the operation of at least one means of the intra-furnace pressure application means 6 and the cavity pressure reduction means 7 is configured so as to set the pressure gradient of the differential pressure between the pressure application by the intra-furnace pressure application means 6 and the pressure reduction by the cavity pressure reduction means 7 to be equal to or less than a predetermined value. As a result, the ability to control the flow of the molten metal 2 is improved even when performing casting in which loading of the molten metal 2 into the cavity 4 is conducted in a short period of time.
