Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a pressure medium that exhibits a solidification pressure of more than 2.7 GPa at room temperature and that has a flash point at a temperature sufficiently higher than room temperature; and a method for using said pressure medium. Said problem is solved by a pressure medium containing at least one group-14 element-containing organic compound (A) selected from the group consisting of compounds (A1) represented by general formula (a1) and compounds (A2) represented by general formula (a2). [In general formula (a1), Ra11, Ra12, Ra13, and Ra14 each independently represent an alkyl group having 3-6 carbon atoms. Za1 represents a carbon atom or a silicon atom.] [In general formula (a2), Ra21, Ra22, Ra23, and Ra24 each independently represent an alkyl group having 3-6 carbon atoms. Za2 represents a silicon atom, a germanium atom, a tin atom, or a lead atom.]
