Abstract:
Provided is a pretreatment device that prevents bleeding of a pretreatment agent and makes it possible to reduce marks resulting from a reaction between a pre-pretreatment agent and the pretreatment agent. Disclosed is a pretreatment device that performs pretreatment of a permeable recording medium to which ink is applied, wherein the pretreatment device includes a first application unit for applying an aqueous solution containing an alginate to the recording medium, a second application unit for applying an aqueous solution containing a chelating agent to the recording medium, and a third application unit for applying a pretreatment agent containing a polyvalent metal salt to the recording medium, and the third application unit applies the pretreatment agent after application of the aqueous solutions by the first application unit and the second application unit.
