Title:
PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF ANEURYSMS USING PPARγ INHIBITOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/007565
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a prophylactic and/or therapeutic drug for aneurysms which comprises a PPARγ inhibitor as the active ingredient. It was discovered that a circulatory failure within the vascular wall cause the fibroblasts constituting abdominal aortic aneurysmal adventitia to express PPARγ and differentiate into adipocyte-like cells, which induces the abnormal accumulation of triglycerides in the vascular wall and weakens the vascular wall. The PPARγ inhibitor comprehensively corrects these factors to prevent the onset, progression and rupture of aneurysms. Thus, the life prognosis of patients with aneurysms can be improved.
