Abstract:
Provided are a printed matter inspection apparatus and a printed matter inspection method that appropriately judge the visibility of streaky density defects regardless of the size of a pixel value change in an image. The printed matter inspection apparatus determines the visibility of a streak from: a basic streak intensity, which is the intensity of the streak detected from the printed matter; color information and frequency characteristic information of a region in the vicinity of the streak which is continuous from the region of the streak and in which a variation of an image characteristic amount is within a predetermined first range; and frequency characteristic information of an outer peripheral region in contact with the region in the vicinity of the streak, and determines whether the printed matter is good or bad on the basis of at least the visibility, thus solving the above-described problem.
