Abstract:
A printer apparatus connected to a network has a mail server for transmitting/receiving an electronic mail having an address dedicated to the apparatus. An electronic mail received by the mail server is interpreted by a mail processing unit. When the electronic mail contains a command such as a power supply control for the printer, a request for report on the consumable item management information, a request for report on operation state check, update of firmware, maintenance, or a control command, e. g. , attached file printing, a processing according to the contained command is executed.
