Abstract:
This printer (1) is provided with a printing unit (14) having multiple printing elements (181) for printing dots, and a control unit (10) which controls the printing unit (14) on the basis of input image data. The control unit (10) acquires a pre-correction print density, which is based on test pattern data that includes a uniform pixel array, and printing characteristics of the print position of dots printed by the printing elements (181). The control unit (10) calculates a target density by averaging the pre-correction print density, and offsets the target density so that the target density is greater than or equal to the pre-correction print density. The control unit (10) calculates a correction gain of the printing elements (181) on the basis of the ratio of the target density to the pre-correction print density and controls the printing unit (14) on the basis of the correction gain and the input image data.
