Abstract:
Disclosed are a printer and method in which the printer is provided with: first and second guide rollers (21 and 22), provided along the direction in which a web (W) moves and separated by a prescribed separation, that guide the movement of the web (W); a drive roller (25), downstream of the second guide roller (22), that moves the web (W); four print heads (31, 32, 33, and 34), facing the web (W) guided between the first and second guide rollers (21 and 22), that are provided along the direction in which the web (W) moves; a rotary encoder (36), downstream of the print heads (31, 32, 33, and 34), that measures the movement speed of the web (W); and a control device (38) that, on the basis of measurement results from the rotary encoder (36), controls when the print heads (31, 32, 33, and 34) print.
