A printer with embroidering function, comprising a sewing machine body (2) capable of sewing a finished fabric (W) and a fabric holding frame (3) holding the finished fabric (W) supplied for sewing. The printer also comprises a frame drive device (4) having a mounting part (4a) detachably mounted on the sewing machine body (2) and independently moving the fabric holding frame (3) connected thereto in two orthogonal horizontal directions, and an ink jet type printing device (5) detachably mounted on the mounting part (4a) of the frame drive device (3) separated from the sewing machine body (2) and capable of printing on the finished fabric (W) on the fabric holding frame (3) moved by the frame drive device (4). In addition, the printer comprises a head cap (52), a purging mechanism (53), a nozzle wiper (54), an ink receiver (55), and a waste ink absorbing felt (56).
