Abstract:
Provided is a printer, which is enabled, by jointing a printing unit and a post-treating unit, to perform the operations without being mutually constrained by the operations of the others, thereby to improve the throughput. The printer comprises a printing unit for printing rolled printing paper, while transferring it, and for sending out the printed paper, and a post-treating unit for receiving the printed paper sent out by the printing unit and for subjecting the printed paper to a post-treatment such as a predetermined length cutting operation, a fold forming operation, a gluing operation or a double-folding/applying operation. Thus, the printer forms a printed matter of a predetermined shape. Between the last roller of the printing unit and the first roller of the post-treating unit, there is formed a containing space for causing the printed paper sent out by the roller of the printing unit to depend and bulge by its own weight, thereby to contain the printed paper. In the upper open face of the containing space, there are disposed a guide member for supporting the printed paper sent out by the roller of the printing unit, thereby to guide the same in the roller direction of the post-treating unit, and means for moving the guide member, when the printing unit sends out a long printed paper sheet, from the closed position to the open position of the upper open face of the containing space, after the roller of the post-treating unit gripped the leading end of the paper.
