Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a printer capable of making the condition of the surface of the printing face an optimum condition, without providing a dedicated ribbon cassette for each surface condition of a desired printing surface. Also, to provide a printer in which the condition of the surface of the printing face can be automatically altered in accordance with the content to be printed, without changing the ribbon cassette. [Solution] A printer (10) is a thermal transfer type printer in which printing is performed onto a paper sheet (1) using an ink ribbon (23), and comprises: a platen roller (15Y) that feeds a paper sheet (1) and the ink ribbon (23), arranged in the vicinity of the feed path of the paper sheet (1); a thermal head (16Y) that heats the ink of the ink ribbon (23), thereby transferring it to the paper sheet (1), and that is arranged facing the platen roller (15Y); and a separating plate (17Y) that separates the ink ribbon (23) and the paper sheet (1). The separation position at which the separating plate (17Y) separates the ink ribbon (23) from the paper sheet (1) can be altered.
