Abstract:

The present invention appropriately achieves high glossiness of glossy ink which has been fixed to a medium. A printing device (10) for printing on a medium (50) using the inkjet method is equipped with a glossy ink head which is an inkjet head for discharging ink droplets of a glossy ink, and a principal scanning drive unit (14) for causing the glossy ink head to perform a principal scanning operation, wherein: the glossy ink contains a glossy pigment and a solvent; during the principal scanning operation, the glossy ink head forms ink dots in a plurality of positions arranged in the principal scanning direction on the medium, by discharging an ink droplet a plurality of times while moving in the principal scanning direction; and the volume of the ink droplet discharged by the glossy ink head is of a size at which each of the plurality of dots formed during a single principal scanning operation contacts another of the dots on the medium.
