Abstract:
A printing device comprising a printing plate and an alignment mechanism for adjusting the position of the printing plate relative to a flexible substrate, wherein the alignment mechanism has an optical system whereby the focus can be simultaneously matched to at least two mutually different positions, the optical system having a first focus matched to a first mark provided to the substrate and a second focus matched to a second mark provided to the printing plate, and positional information relating to the first and second marks is acquired by simultaneously matching the first and second focuses to both the first and second marks, the alignment mechanism matching the positions of the printing plate and substrate on the basis of the positional information relating to the first and second marks detected by the optical system. This makes it possible to detect the relative positions of the printing plate and the flexible substrate at high accuracy and to match positions at high accuracy on the basis thereof, without the need to fix the flexible substrate in place.
