Abstract:
The invention reliably prevents interference between an object being printed (W) and a print head (11) when printing on objects to be printed (W) of differing thicknesses. The printing device (1) is provided with: coating-dispensing units (10) that dispense a dot-shaped coating on an object being printed (W); a print head (11) in which multiple coating-dispensing units (10) are disposed in a line; a moving means (20) for moving the print head (11) and the object being printed (W) relative to each other in the direction orthogonal to the direction in which the coating-dispensing units (10) are disposed; a support unit (12) that supports the print head (11) to move freely up and down; a coating supply means (30) that supplies coating to each of the multiple coating-dispensing units (10); and a control means (40) that detects the movement distance of the object being printed (W) and controls the dispensing actions of the coating-dispensing units on the basis of input printing information. The support unit (12) is provided with a protective wheel (12J), which rides up on an object being printed (W) that has a thickness that would interfere with the print head (11) to retract the print head (11) above the object being printed (W).
