The present invention relates to a private information protection method and system suitable for a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal comprises an intelligent user system and a secure user system. The method comprises: storing data of the intelligent user system and the secure user system; simultaneously running the intelligent user system and the secure user system, wherein one user system serves as a foreground active system, the other user system serves as a background running system, and a switchover between the foreground active system and the background running system can be implemented according to a switching instruction inputted by a user; and displaying the foreground active system on a screen. Compared with the prior art, the present invention improves the security of privacy data of a mobile phone by using two user systems. In addition, seamless and fast switching can be achieved between the two user systems, so that user experience is improved. If a user selects to run the secure user system in a current display interface, the intelligent user system runs in the background; if the user wants to switch to the intelligent user system, there is no need to restart the mobile phone or restart the intelligent user system, and seamless and fast switching can be achieved without any delay.
