Abstract:
The present invention relates to a probabilistic shaped (PS) PAM-4 signal transmission method. The method comprises: receiving a bit sequence, and dividing the bit sequence into symbol bits and initial amplitude bits; performing distribution matching processing on the initial amplitude bits, and obtaining amplitude bits with probability distributions of "0" and "1" by means of energy level allocation; performing mapping processing on the amplitude bits and the symbol bits, so as to obtain a PS-PAM-4 signal; and sending the PS-PAM-4 signal to a receiving end, so that the receiving end performs channel equalization processing on the PS-PAM-4 signal, so as to obtain a processed output signal, and performs de-mapping and decoding processing on the output signal, so as to obtain the bit sequence. By means of the present invention, a plurality of probability distributions can be provided for any n symbol types, and constant PS encoding redundancy is provided, thereby greatly enhancing the flexibility of a system and reducing the use of an additional comparator. Moreover, in comparison with a traditional PAM-4 signal transmission method, the sensitivity of a receiver can be improved by as much as 4.2 dB, thereby achieving an ideal communication quality.
