Title:
PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR THE SEPARATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND HYDROGEN
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/123752
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a separation process and apparatus, wherein CO2 is separated from a gaseous feed stream comprising CO2 and H2, and comprises the steps of: • (i) cooling and partially condensing (310) the feed stream (300); • (ii) passing the cooled and partially condensed feed stream from step (i) to a first vapour-liquid separator (320) to produce a vapour stream (425) having increased H2 content relative the feed stream (300) and a liquid stream (325) having increased CO2 content relative to the feed stream (300); • (iii) expanding (330) at least a portion of the liquid stream (325) from step (ii); • (iv) passing the expanded stream (335) from step (iii) to a second vapour-liquid separator (340) to produce a vapour stream (465) having increased H2 content relative the liquid stream (325) from step (ii) and a liquid stream (345) having increased CO2 content relative to the liquid stream (325) from step (ii); • (v) expanding (400) and heating (310) a first portion (390) of the liquid stream (345) from step (iv).
