Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for coating N-[N-(3,3-dimethylbutyl)-L-$g(a)-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester onto a carrier. The invention also relates to N-[N-(3,3-dimethylbutyl)-L-$g(a)-aspartyl]-L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester coated carrier compositions.

Claims:
What is claimed is:
1. A method of coating N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)La aspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester onto a carrier comprising the steps of: (a) heating the carrier to a temperature above the melting point of the N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)La aspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester; (b) combining the N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)La aspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester with the heated carrier to form a mixture; and (c) cooling the mixture of carrier and N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester to form a N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl] Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition.

The method according to claim 1, wherein the carrier is selected from the group consisting of sucrose, citric acid, maltodextrin, dextrose, lactose, inulin, erythritol, sorbitol, maltitol, lactitol, isomalt, maltose, tagatose, fructose, polyols, polydextrose, cellulose and cellulose derivatives, aspartame, acesulfame salts, sucralose, cyclamate, saccharin, stevioside, alitame, malic acid and mixtures thereof.
3. The method according to claim 2, wherein the carrier is selected from the group consisting of sucrose, citric acid, lactose, acesulfameK and mixtures thereof.
4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the carrier is heated to a temperature from about 80°C to about 150°C.
5. The method according to claim 4, wherein the carrier is heated to a temperature from about 105°C to about 120°C.
6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1 methyl ester is combined with the carrier in an amount from about 0.01% to about 12% by weight of the carrier.
7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1 methyl ester is combined with the carrier in an amount from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the carrier.
8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1 methyl ester is combined with the carrier in an amount from about 1% to about 2.5% by weight of the carrier.
9. A N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition comprising a carrier and N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)La aspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester made according to the method comprising the steps of: (a) heating the carrier to a temperature above the melting point of the N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)La aspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester; (b) combining the N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)La aspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester with the heated carrier to form a mixture; and (c) cooling the mixture of carrier and N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester to form a N [N (3, 3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl] Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition.

The N [N (3, 3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 9, wherein the carrier is selected from the group consisting of sucrose, citric acid, maltodextrin, dextrose, lactose, inulin, erythritol, sorbitol, maltitol, lactitol, isomalt, maltose, tagatose, fructose, polyols, polydextrose, cellulose and cellulose derivatives, aspartame, acesulfame salts, sucralose, cyclamate, saccharin, stevioside, alitame, malic acid and mixtures thereof.
11. The N [N (3, 3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 10, wherein the carrier is selected from the group consisting of sucrose, citric acid, lactose, acesulfameK and mixtures thereof.
12. The N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 9, wherein the carrier is heated to a temperature from about 80°C to about 150°C.
13. The N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 12, wherein the carrier is heated to a temperature from about 105°C to about 120°C.
14. The N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 9, wherein the N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester is combined with the carrier in an amount from about 0.01% to about 12% by weight of the carrier.
15. The N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 14, wherein the N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester is combined with the carrier in an amount from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the carrier.
16. The N [N (3,3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 14, wherein the N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester is combined with the carrier in an amount from about 1% to about 2.5% by weight of the carrier.
17. A method of sweetening a food by including in said food a N [N (3, 3dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]L phenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 9 in an amount effective to sweeten said food.
18. The method according to claim 17, wherein said food is selected from the group consisting of beverages, fluid dairy products, condiments, baked goods, frostings, bakery fillings, candy and chewing gum.
19. A method of sweetening a tabletop sweetener by including in said tabletop sweetener a N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 9 in an amount effective to sweeten said tabletop sweetener.
20. A sweetened food comprising a N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 9 in an amount effective to sweeten the food.
21. The sweetened food according to claim 20, wherein said food is selected from the group consisting of beverages, fluid dairy products, condiments, baked goods, frostings, bakery fillings, candy and chewing gum.
22. A tabletop sweetener comprising a N [N (3,3 dimethylbutyl)Laaspartyl]Lphenylalanine 1methyl ester coated carrier composition according to claim 9 in an amount effective to sweeten said tabletop sweetener.
