Title:
A PROCESS OF FITTING A SHRINK RING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/047378
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The process of fitting shrink ring on the channel barrel, such as to the heat exchanger, involves machining the inside surface of the shrink ring and the out side surface of the threaded area of the closure to the designed dimensions. The ring is then uniformly heated to the required temperature. This ring is the heated state is then slid on to the threaded portion of the closure, then it is allowed to cool room temperature when it shrink and tightly fits the enclosure including positive stress on it.

We Claim,

1.A process of fitting shrink ring to the channel barrel, such as to a heat exchanger etc, comprising the following steps, a) machining of the outside diameter of the threaded portion of the enclosure channel to the size as shown in fig. 7, b) machining of the ;inside diameter of the shi ink . ring to the pre- dimensions(slightly less than the out side diameter of the enclosure channel) as shown in fig.8, c) forging the closure and cutting threading from inside on the vertical side, d) Placing the enclosure in a vertical position on the ground with threaded area at the top, e) Electrically heating at 5OC to 600C temperature, the shrink ring shall be vertically lowered onto the enclosure channel, f) cooling the shrink ring at the room temperature which tightly fit, the enclosure, inducing positive stress on it, the said stress is used as per requirement,

2.A process of fitting shrink ring to the channel barrel such as here in described with reference to an accompanying drawings,

Description:

Title: - A process of fitting a shrink Ring

Field of the Invention :-

The present invention relates to a process of fitting a shrink ring on the channel barrel such as to heat-Exchanger etc, particularly in the field of refineries, conduits pipes of tubes used to transport energy in electrical, optic or fluid form, by which the ring can be appropriately adjusted according to the requirement.

Back Ground of the Invention:-

Making connection between two tubes imposes technical constraints associated on one hand with the special application such as in the field of gas, telecommunication with the use of automatic machines for laying those tubes, by using hooking means to hold the tube in the connection, and by sealing means for such connections.

USPT No.6332227, which described about the ring band adjustment structure of a crash helmet having connection sheet of panel sheet with a guide bar, by means of locking.

USPT No. 7062847,which describes about a shrinking arrangement for a tool holder which relates a rotary tool with a press fit in a central accommodating opening, in which a rail system fastened to a supporting base and carriage coupled to rail system.

USPT No.5575055, which teaches about to a process for shrinking a ring to be shrunk, placed around an object to be clamped on a cylindrical support and behind an axial obstacle connected to said support, with using a jaws, which do not teaches about the process of fitting shrink on channel barrel with threaded portion, Objects of the Invention: -

It is an object of the present invention to over come those draws backs by proposing a process which makes it possible for fitting a shrink ring on threaded portion of the channel barrel.

Further an important object of the present invention is that the process developed is cost effective and less time consuming,

Summery of the Invention:-

The process of fitting shrink ring on the channel barrel, involves machining the inside surface of the shrink ring and the out side surface of the threaded area of the closure to the designed dimensions. The ring is then uniformly heated to the required temperature. This ring is the heated state is then slid on to the threaded portion of the closure, then it is allowed to cool room temperature when it shrink and tightly tits the enclosure including positive stress on it.

Brief Description of the drawings,

Fig.l, Shows closer view of the standard threaded channel barrel,

Fig.2, hf which it shows the closer view of the ring before it is slipped n the standard channel,

Fig.3, which shows the closer view of the shrink ring screw plug, with heat - exchanger,

Fig,4, which shows the screw plug fitted with heat-exchanger with a standard threaded channel barrel,

Fig.5, which shows the screw plug heat-exchanger with a shrink ring on the threaded portion of the channel barrel here by called a shrink ring screw fitted plug with heat exchanger,

Fig.6, which shows the added steel in the form of shrink ring on the threaded portion of the channel barrel,

Fig.7, which shows about machining of the out side diameter of the threaded portion,

Fig.8, which shows about the inside diameter of the shrink ring,

Details description of the invention:-

__A_p£ocess of fitting shrink ring tαjthe channel barrel, such as to a heat exchanger etc, comprising the following steps, a), machining of the outside diameter of the threaded portion of the enclosure channel to the size as shown in fig. 7 of the accompanying drawings, b).machining of the inside diameter of the shrink ring to the pre-dimensions (this slightly less than the out side diameter of the enclosure channel) as described in the drawing fig.8, c).Forging the closure and cutting threading from inside on the vertical Turrent Lathe, d). Placing the enclosure in a vertical position on the ground with threaded area at the top, e). electrically heating at 5OC to 600C temperature to the shrink ring, at this temperature the shrink ring shall be vertically lowered on to the enclosure channel,

F). cooling the shrink ring at the room temperature which tightly fits the enclosure inducing positive stress on it, the said stress can be used as per requirement other wise causes rapture at the time of shrink fitting or at the time of subsequent heat treatment it encounters the stepwise procedure with aid of fabrication such as described an explained m drawings with respect to the accurate dimensions , temperature, to be maintained ,
