Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for improving, repairing and waterproofing a steel tank that has lost the watertightness thereof and for converting same into a double-walled tank; said process uses vacuum pumps and includes coating the tank completely with pre-impregnated compounds of cloth and resins with a catalyst, spreading the material over the whole or a part of the surface in one or more layers, placing a vacuum bag and closing the tank and curing/polymerizing the pre-impregnated compounds, heating the entire inner surface to the required temperature. The process of converting the tank into a double-walled tank includes constructing a new inner wall of any material as a support, and separating if applicable, for the application of a new coating having pre-impregnated compounds, incorporating the coating by means of an infusion or pre-impregnation process.
