Abstract:
A process for joining piping members consisting of a polyphenylene ether resin composition, characterized by heat-melting both the external-circumferential portion of a spigot pipe section of one piping member and the internal -circumferential portion of a socket section of the other piping member at a temperature H (°C) specified by the following formula and then inserting the spigot pipe section into the socket section to carry out the fusion-joining of both, said polyphenylene ether resin composition being a composition which comprises “a” parts by mass of a polyphenylene ether resin and “b” parts by mass of a polystyrene resin as the essential components with a and b satisfying the relationships: a + b = 100 and a : b = (10-90) : (90-10) and which exhibits a melt flow rate of 1.0 to 10.0g/10min after kneading. H=[220°C+{100°C × (“a” parts by mass/100parts by mass)}] ± 10°C
