Abstract:

This invention relates to a process for manufacturing a porous polyether urethane film that may or may not be cross-linked, which film is adapted for use as a wound dressing or as a part of a wound dressing. The process comprises spreading a solution of an aliphatic polyether urethane elastomer and a hygroscopic salt in an organic solvent over a substrate after a heat treatment, contacting said substrate together with the layer provided thereon with an atmosphere containing water vapour, removing the remaining organic solvent by drying after the clear layer has turned white, removing the hygroscopic salt by contacting the substrate and the white film provided thereon with water while separating the film from the substrate, and drying the film.
