Abstract:
In a process for preparing 1,5-diaminonaphthalenes by using an o-alkylnitrobenzene compound and a vinyl compound as the starting materials through a 4-(2-nitrobenzene)propane compound and a 5-nitro-1-tetralone compound, an aromatic nitro compound such as 4-(2-nitrobenzene)butanonitrile can be prepared by reacting an o-alkylnitrobenzene compound with a vinyl compound having an electron-withdrawing group such as an acrylonitrile or an acrylic ester in the presence of a base; ring closure of the obtained aromatic nitro compound can selectively and safely give a 5-nitro-1-tetralone compound without the formation of isomers; and 1,5-diaminonaphthalenes can be prepared through the 5-nitro-1-tetralone compound without the formation of isomers.
